Boston's best-kept secret may be Ball and Buck's barbershop. Finding a cut in the back of the clothier's Newbury Street store is like uncovering a speakeasy. Due to limited seating, you may need to book weeks in advance.


Get a share at Throne, and you're treated like royalty. Before sitting in one of their custom-made barber chairs, you're encouraged to visit their enormous bar, which is virtually as well-stocked as a bar. Throne's alcohol is free, unlike a bar.

Belmont Barbershop

Belmont Barbershop has a century-long clientele. The barbers at this no-frills north Chicago hotspot use scissors and clippers to give excellent cuts every time. However, request their pompadour for a unique look.

Aidan Gill for Men

Aidan Gill Men is nostalgic. Aidan Gill, the owner and namesake, encourages barbers to converse like old times and bans cell phones. It's historic. Vintage barber brushes decorate the storefront.
